History
Potato chips were first created in 1853 by George Crum, a chef in Saratoga Springs, New York. He was trying to appease a customer who kept sending back his fried potatoes for being too thick and soggy. So, Crum sliced the potatoes as thin as possible, fried them until crispy, and salted them heavily. The customer loved them, and thus, the potato chip was born.
